A Cinematic Coupe Inspired by Marlene Dietrich, the Last Goddess.
Seemingly always under a blue haze of cigarette and cigar smoke, Berlin's Silhouette Club attracted film stars, cabaret artists and swealthy aristocracy. Conrad Veidt, Maria Orska, Anita Berber, Hilde Hildebrand and a young Marlene Dietrich were regulars alongside Princes, Counts and Barons. Cross-dressing in both sexes was encouraged. Men and women in smoking jackets and smart suits could be seen alongside other men and women in sequined evening gowns and jewels. It was here, one night early in 1929, that composer Friedrich Holländer went looking for Marlene Dietrich. He found her in one of the booths near the dance floor with a large group of friends and broke the news that she had been cast in the lead role in The Blue Angel. Word went around the club in a flash that Marlene had got her big break, the orchestra immediately started playing “Schöner Gigolo, Armer Gigolo” (“Just a Gigolo”), and Marlene "ordered so much Champagne you could bathe in it."
"Champagne," said Marlene Dietrich, "makes you feel like it's Sunday and better days are just around the corner." She was a 20th century icon and truly lived a life worth toasting. With its graceful stature and elegant thin construction, this handcrafted coupe flatters the bubbles as they rise to meet the tongue. True to sophisticated cocktail culture, the versatile coupe shape adds style not only to Champagne, but to Martinis and craft cocktails. Excellent for dinner parties or any occasion where glamour is requested. Offered in a Gift Box Set of 2, for keeping or giving.
