The Martini Meets Miami, Circa 1950.

The Martini became the quintessential cocktail in the 1950s, and Martini-drinking called for some hip digs. In Miami that place was the Five O’Clock Club, a popular nightclub offering two shows a night and three on weekends. The club was named for the free drinks served to anyone still at the bar at 5 AM, those sessions usually populated by after-work waiters, waitresses, musicians from other clubs, and an occasional celebrity or two.

Settling in for the three-drink minimum, patrons sipped Martinis from Art Deco glasses inspired by the architectural legacy of South Beach. Martini fundamentalists welcome the revival of this ultra-swanky, sleek, and classy vessel, with deco stem, classic V-shaped bowl, brilliant clarity, superb balance, and a certain sex appeal. The "Five O'Clock Club" 1950 Miami Martini Glass is offered in a Gift Box Set of 2, for keeping or giving.
